Thanks to jkg in the comments.

UPDATE x2:This is starting to get picked up now that it's in the print addition. Paul Wells' tweet is good for a laugh.

  1. Hmmm, it also describes every Liberal leader in the party's history. Old, white,priviledged...

  2. All the Conservsative leaders in history,
Except for Joe Clark and Trudeau.

  3. Oops I mean Trudeau wasn't an old white leader when he first became PM for the Liberals

  4. And sorta-PM Campbell.

Nonetheless, it seems the troll above is not impressed with the GG pick. I imagine he's writing an angry e-mail to Steve at this very moment. Right?

  5. every Liberal leader....

Yes, because Louis St. Laurent being a son of a shopkeeper was born with a silver spoon in his mouth in the affluent city of Compton. His success had nothing to do with working hard and earning his prestige.

Anyway, this article is a perfect example of the warped persecution complex that the Sun and many Steyniacs seem to complain incessantly. There is no doubt that there is a certain level of affirmative action in the public service, but I will bet with confidence none of those complainers have actually dug up any figures on this subject and realize that there characterizations are gross overstatements.

I mean, my gosh, affirmative action is so prevalent for 'decades' that the last recorded study in 1999 was a whopping 5.9% . And, from what a recent article noted, in 2007 that number has pretty remained unchanged .

As for francophones, 30% are represented, which is 10 percent above the population proportion. It is far cry from the hyperbole. 70 percent are still anglophone, which is still very close to the population proportion.

One final note, did the Sun editorial not open their history books to discover that out of the 28 GGs that we have had, only three were women and two were of a visible minority? Or more to the point, that out of 11 Canadian GGs, 3 were women and 2 were visible minorities? I thought not.

  6. Update on that article:

They shut down the thread because the comments were inappropriate? That's like halting a cross-burning because someone farted.

And the bottom-feeders who wrote that vile editorial actually want their own cable network. Amazing.

    Ha!

I am impressed though, they managed to cram a whole lot of hate into one short editorial, ranging from the dusky ones, to bitchy women, to francophones, to the CBC. In a perverse way, I can't wait until the next federal election when Kory starts letting us know how he really feels.
